Material selection of yoga mat
Yoga mats are divided into several materials, common ones are linen, TPE and PVC.
These two kinds of mats: Recyclable, to avoid environmental pollution. Mainly soft, fit, tiled ground, strong grip. Each mat of TPE weighs about 1200 grams, which is about 300 grams lighter than that of PVC, and is easy to carry. Waterproof and non-slip, even if you sweat, the anti-slip effect of practicing on it is still great!
However, the price of TPE mats is very expensive (it depends on everyone’s needs). If you look at the price/performance ratio, PVC mats are more economical and more affordable.
First and foremost, look at both ends of the mat (after the mat is rolled up) to see if there are very uniform air bubbles, the air is bigger and the best is uniform! This shows that the foam is good.
1. Don’t open a yoga mat first, smell the top of the mat with your nose to see if there is a pungent smell. Generally, a good yoga mat will not have a lot of smell. After opening it for two days, the slight smell can be dissipated! If the smell still does not dissipate after a long time, it is possible that the quality of the mat is not good enough. , long-term use will cause harm to the body.
2. Feel it with your hand to see if it is heavy. If it is heavy, it may not be the PVC foaming technology, but the accumulation of raw materials. (Usually about 2.5 kg, yoga mat is 1.5 kg) PVC foam technology, excellent elasticity, it will return to its original state soon after stepping on it! And other crafts, it will not bounce after stepping on it for a long time. The gap between the processes is large, which is one of the biggest reasons for the price gap.
3. After opening, carefully check the workmanship to see if it is fine. Generally, the workmanship of domestic mats is very rough. Some are only foamed on one side, and the side that touches the ground is not designed to be non-slip! There are also sellers who sell foot mats as yoga mats, everyone should keep their eyes open. )
4. Gently push the surface of the yoga mat with the palm of your hand to have a dry feeling. If there is too much foaming agent on the surface of the yoga mat, it will feel slippery, so it will be easy to slip and fall when you practice on it. (However, like some good yoga mats in Taiwan, there is an antibacterial layer on it at the beginning, and you will find it a little slippery when you sweat, but don’t worry, after this layer gradually recedes, the anti-slip effect will be revealed! But domestic ones The mat won’t work, it keeps sliding down like this.)
5. We try to choose 6mm thick. For example, when doing some knee landing movements, there will be no pain.
